2019 Event

23rd - 30th November 2019

CAPTURE EARTH is an annual, exclusive wildlife photography experience with the aim of giving our clients access to four of the greatest wildlife photographers in the world today, in very small groups, in a beautiful African location.

Marataba Safari Lodge is set at the foot of the Waterberg mountains within 23,000 hectares of private park 3 hours drive from Johannesburg.  This luxury lodge seamlessly blends contemporary design with natural materials in an area that abounds with wildlife. Capture Earth has reserved the lodge and park exclusively during the event, so there will be no other guests staying there or viewing the wildlife.

DAVID LLOYD, PETER DELANEY, MARINA CANO and JAN VAN DER GREEF are all experts in their fields, leading fine art wildlife photographers, film makers, conservationists and experienced speakers. Between them they hold many accolades in the world of wildlife photography, including BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and have released countless books of their work. The event is hosted by Capture Earth owner JONATHAN CHRITCHLEY, himself a noted fine art photographer who is included in the Sunday Times 100 Greatest Photographers of the World.

During Capture Earth there will be game drives every morning and late afternoon. The vehicles are specially adapted Toyota Land Cruisers with open tops and three rows of seats behind the driver. Each vehicle will hold a fully trained driver/warden, one of our guest photographers and 3 clients, each with a row of seats to themselves, giving the ultimate in viewing possibilities. There are bean bags, gimball heads and camera pads supplied with each vehicle. Each client will have the opportunity to travel with each photographer on several occasions. In the evening there will be sundowners served out in the bush before heading back to the lodge. There will also be an aerial photography session with experienced bush pilots using specially adapted helicopters.

Every day during Capture Earth there will be talks by the guest photographers and animal experts, using the seminar facilities at the camp, and with slideshows, demos and Q & A sessions. Each talk will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes with a 15 minute break half way through. There will also be private one to one talks with each guest photographer for every client.
